A narcotics investigation by the West Central Illinois Task Force-Macomb (WCITF-M) led to the issuance of a search warrant at 22965 North McDonough County Line Road. The investigation targeted the illegal cultivation of marijuana and methamphetamine production. Members of the WCITF-M, assisted by the Illinois State Police District 14 Investigative Trooper, Fulton County Sheriffs Department, McDonough County Sheriffs Department, Macomb Police Department and the West Central Illinois Special Response Team executed the warrant on the above date/time. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of 6 marijuana plants, items related to methamphetamine production and a firearm. The following suspects were later taken into custody at another residence in rural Fulton County: 1) Seth R. Yates (35 years of age of the above address). Yates is facing the following charges: Aggravated Unlawful Methamphetamine Production, Unlawful Procurement of Methamphetamine Precursors, Unlawful Production of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials, Possession of Methamphetamine, Felon in Possession of Firearm and Cultivation of Marijuana. Yates is currently lodged at the Fulton County Jail pending posting of $160,000 bond (10%). 2) Joseph K. Simpson (25 years of age of rural Bushnell). Simpson is facing the following charges: Aggravated Unlawful Production of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Materials, Unlawful Procurement of Methamphetamine Precursors and Possession of Methamphetamine. For over 27 years, small children have been going to the Teddy Bear Child Development Center and Preschool located in the Faith Presbyterian Church, here in Monmouth. Owners Denise and Gary Pullen recently found out that their state food program will be getting funds cut, Gary stated this will hurt their food program some, but thanks to the overwhelming support from the community they recently raised over $7,000 at their Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos fundraiser last weekend. Gary stated that being a non-profit organization means just that, there are no extra funds after making sure we provide high-quality care and education to the children at Teddy Bear. He stated they rely on this fundraiser to maintain a balanced budget and to purchase equipment that needs replaced as the years go by.
